Tuning the Ukulele

Tuning the Ukulele

Tuning the Ukulele has never been easier.   Don’t have perfect pitch or even a piano or pitch pipe.  No problem?  There are many good Websites and products to help you out.   Here are a few…

Online Tuners:

  • GetTuned.com I like this because the tone repeats itself.

    • GetTuned.com also has a more detailed tuner in which you can use different pitches for the strings (transpose down or up by half steps to full step OR specific pitches for each individual string  for alternate tuning)
  • UkuleleWorld.com has ALL of the Ukuleles (including the Baritone) available on a single page.  Simply ‘hover’ over the string pitch and it will automatically play it.
  • AP Tuner – Have a computer microphone?  You can download the ‘Shareware’ program, AP Tuner for Windows, and when you play the string (into the mike) the meter will show you when it is in tune.

G string –  G above middle C
C string – middle C
E string –  E above middle C
A string – A above middle C

Baritone Ukulele Tuners

  • HarpKit.com
  • UkuleleHunt.com’s tuner is unique in that it will play all of the strings one after another. This is nice for a quick string check to confirm you are tuned and because you don’t have to take your hands off of the ukulele.
